The VH236 arrived at the lab in good shape. The box is constructed of heavy cardboard.  Asus used the "less is more" principal when choosing the decorations that occupy the sides of the box.The only bit of damage to the box was in the upper right corner. Upon opening the box I found no damage to anything on the the inside. Asus packages the monitor in heavy Styrofoam which should survive the trials of shipping. The Styrofoam forms a clamshell around the monitor, with the accessories packaged on the outer layer of the clamshell. The main part of the monitor is wrapped in cloth to protect the finish.
