Over the last few years LCD monitors have become the main display device of most computer systems. As demand for LCDs increases, the price decreases and more LCDs are on the market. A few years ago a 19" LCD monitor would cost over $250.00 USD. A quick search on newegg yeilded a price range of $180 to 240 for a 23" screen size with a maximum resolution of 1920x1080.

Most mainstream computer users have LCDs ranging from 19" to 22". Over the last year maximum resolutions have increased from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 or full HD resolution for these screen sizes. Previously if you wanted full HD resolution you would need a minimum of a 24" screen. Input options are no longer limited to a single standard D-Sub or DVI connection, users today demand various connection options such as HDMI.
