A Closer Look

Here's what the cooler looks like once it is all unpacked. You can see the four heat pipes that run through the 54 fins. The heat pipes are made of copper and measure 8 mm in diameter and are soldered to each fin to guarantee that maximum amount of heat is transferred from the pipes to the fins. The pipes are attached at the base of the cooler by an aluminum plate.

The heatsink has a rather unique shape to it and should help maximize the airflow blowing across the fins from the fan. The heat-pipes are capped and sealed at the top. For just pure aesthetics I would have rather seen all four pipes with some type of cap up top.  The bottom of the heatsink shows off the H.D.T technology. Heat-pipe direct touch should help keep lower temperatures by allowing the copper pipes to come in direct contact with the heat spreader of the CPU. We will take a closer look at the bottom and the heat-pipes in the next section.
